Silverwoods is 162ha (400acres) of Australian paradise, until recently the land was used as pasture for the Bott family’s dairy farm/beef cattle stud since 1923. The area will be preserved using environmentally aware methods. Existing water rights will be used to irrigate the golf course and open space landscaping. Stormwater runoff will be treated in wetland systems to improve water quality. Fauna will be sustained by wildlife corridors. Guidelines will protect existing trees on private land and encourage the planting of tall species to form a tree canopy.

As your friends are teeing off on the first hole of “The Black Bull” golf course, you can tell them the name comes from the Bott family’s ‘Naranghi’ Angus breed stud of the 1940s.

Lake Mulwala covers 4450 hectares, can hold 118 gigalitres of water and is home to an abundance of fish and wildlife.

The first filling of Lake Mulwala began on August 12, 1939. A group of local men spent a year removing trees at a cost of 10 shillings per acre. The locals recognised the importance of this task, but the River Murray Commission refused to help fund the project. In a tremendous display of community spirit, the locals simply did it themselves.

Silverwoods has been comprehensively planned in minute detail to ensure the needs of the community will be met for years to come. Whether it’s a place to live, a place to retire or a holiday home, the wide range of proposed services such as restaurants, gym facilities, tennis court, day spa and shopping facilities will ensure that your needs will be met at Silverwoods.

Business will be catered for too. Eventually Silverwoods will incorporate a hotel, conference facilities and serviced apartments, injecting vibrancy, colour and currency into the local community and the entire region.
